In doing research on the Van Gogh counterfeit market, I stumbled onto a web site called Art Conversation Forum. Reality is better than fiction
This morning, I was cleaning out a corner in the basement of a rental unit in Pittsburgh and found an absolutely filthy painting in what appeared to be a museum-quality frame, hidden behind a rotting mattress and tarnished bedframe.
In the end it was assumed it was a fake, but only the experts at the Antique Roadshow will know for sure when they do an episode in Pittsburgh’s greater metropolitan hinterland.
