After the overkill (of Famous Monsters) recently, i was thinking maybe a little straight talk today would suffice. presenting: one of my all time favorite punk single covers (and coincidentally, recording) “Kill The Bee Gees” by The Accident.
The song was written by the drummer, mike stein (you can sorta see him back there) in about ’78 (or so) in bellingham washington, usa (in his grandmas’ basement, as i remember the story.) mike also designed the cover (massively great work, i might add.) this rough and ready DIY “any level of talent or skill is perfectly acceptable” style of graphic design will always always ALWAYS be close to my heart. it’s just so danged DIRECT, ya know?

AC:i dig that little cancelled RSO logo in the bottom right. that's a great 70's joke that kids these days will never "get." also that record label that released it was another legendary northwest punk label called "No 3's Records" check the logo in the lower left.
mike went on to several other bands (like the under-rated The Holidays) and became a popular radio disk jockey in seattle. he also does a lot of commercial voice-over work and he and his wife have just started a bakery in west seattle called “Heavenly” (world class pretzels, by the way.)
mike also ran Chuckie-Boy Records (named after his cat) and eventually did re-issues of The Accident, and later, The Lewd, The Heats, The Cowboys, the Wasters, Color Twigs and The (legendary) U-Men.
the girl lead singer in The Accident later in life became a big honcho at microsoft. go figger.
