The pipe design is somewhat incorrect (more associated with the character as portrayed in the movies) and the deerstalker cap was only relevant on more rural adventures—like The Hound of the Baskervilles—but never mind the movie stereotypes, read the novels and short stories and you’ll understand why detective fiction became its own subgenre and why Conan Doyle’s immortal creation is a classic of literature of any category.
