It doesn’t seem to be enough that 150,000 died in the Lviv ghetto. They have to memorialized in an artificial Jewish restaurant of anti-semitic proportions where the clientele is asked to jew the waiter down on the price of the meal.Anti-Semitic stereotypes or shock marketing? It grabs attention, and the ownership seems to cherish this type of notoriety; the restaurant being on the adjacent site of a historic Golden Rose Lviv synagogue in which the membership likely went up in smoke; now if history could repeat itself next door…

—The “Kryvika” recreates a bunker used by Ukrainian nationalist forces under Stefan Bandera who collaborated with the Nazis and whose supporters actively participated in the mass murder of local Jews in 1941. The password to enter the restaurant is: “Glory to the Ukraine.”—Read More:http://www.wiesenthal.com/site/apps/nlnet/content2.aspx?c=lsKWLbPJLnF&b=4441467&ct=11785365 image:http://ukraineallaboutu.com/travel-in-ukraine/hotels-and-restaurants/lviv/kryjivka/
Most of the restaurants in “the good ole’ days” said no jews or dogs;the formula has been re-jigged so you get to metaphorically eat off the jew’s plate, temporarily take over his dwelling, mock the culture and tradition and engage in a little fantasy over your own private joy division. There is something almost cannibalistic, where you actually get to eat a jew; “waiter this jew is cold, can you reheat? sure, we’ll put it back in the oven for a few minutes, back in a jiffy!” Its an extension of the holocaust tourism that part of which Jamie Kastner showd in his film “Kike Like Me” in which “authentic” jewish culture is sold as kitsch and a maudlin sentimentality. If they miss their jews so much then why…
But, these restaurants are part of a wider trend, a broader context of fascism re-emerging i new forms, in Europe, and in particular the more backwatery, backwashed Eastern regions, with notable exceptions. This version of fascism is not entirely a reactionary movement, but a blend, toxic, of rebellious emotional impulses mixed with reactionary social ideas. The is the opposite of revolutionary, or a rational rebellion against disturbing social conditions, and radical by going to the bedrock of problems, backed by a rational will that would better conditions, then this type of fascism is never, ever, revolutionary, though it may appear, superficially to have revolutionary emotions. Instead, its fear of the real truth, the facts, transforms this faux revolutionary emotion into fantasy and illusion. In these stupid ass-wipe dirty spoon restaurants, you can see that the race theory underlying them is not a creation of the fascist environment there, but the fascist expression is a creation of the race hatred at its core; race ideology as pathological symptom of the impotent individual.
Some can argue that this fascism is an extreme expression of religious mysticism; something rooted in the religiosity that is rooted in sexual perversion expressing itself as sadism where the component of suffering is seen as being “emancipated” in sadistic murder as happened in the Lviv ghetto and environs. Its hard to pin down the blame on monotheism and it seems harsh; however in reading Martin Grey’s book and the clergy’s offer of a sack of flour for a jew has to be balanced by the many religious who saved jewish lives….
ADDENDUM:

—The restaurants are popular, he said, for the gimmicks, not the food. “Our policy is to educate the society,” Nazaruk said. “We try to find for each of our restaurants some theme, something they may be aware of in their history.”

Nazaruk has also opened another, more controversial restaurant named At the Golden Rose. It’s adjacent to the site of what had been L’viv’s Golden Rose synagogue, a 350-year-old house of worship that was destroyed by the Nazis.
At the restaurant, patrons are given hats with sidecurls intended to mimic those worn by Orthodox Jewish men. There are no prices on the menu. Diners must haggle with the waiter over how much to pay.
Asked if he understands why this is offensive, especially since almost all of L’viv’s Jewish residents were murdered, Nazaruk shrugs.
“More Ukrainians died in the war than Jews,” he said. “Bargaining over prices? It’s the truth. But you must make it positive. We’re not just dealing in anti-Semitic stereotypes.”
He added, “When Ukrainians come to this restaurant, they see pictures drawn by Bruno Schulz and they read about Joseph Roth.—Read More:http://www.globalpost.com/dispatch/news/regions/europe/120329/golden-rose-lviv-ukraine-anti-semitism-with-dish-echoes-hitler-pt-3
The menu has no prices because, as manageress Yuliana Kozak explained, “Jews like bargaining”.
The restaurant also offers clients who are so inclined the chance to wear hats and payot (long side curls) in the style of some ultra-orthodox Jewish communities for souvenir photographs.
The Los Angeles-based Simon Wiesenthal Center, a non-governmental human rights organisation that fights anti-Semitism around the world, recently said that haggling was “a notorious anti-Semitic stereotype still prevalent in Eastern Europe”….
“It’s not very nice for us but they do that for their business and we’re in a democracy,” added Sarah Bolt, whose husband is the rabbi at the only synagogue that survived the Nazi occupation in the city. “It’s not really our problem,” she added. ( see link at end) …The city’s most elegant hotel, the Citadel Inn, which hosts many guests for the Euro 2012 matches, was built on the site of the mass murder of tens of thousands of Jews and non-Jews.
Very recently, the authorities tried to destroy parts of the remnants of the Golden Rose Synagogue complex, but a protest campaign launched by local resident Meylakh Sheykhet and journalist Tom Gross has succeeded in halting those plans — at least temporarily.
The Euro 2012 tournament focused attention on these issues, and our call to boycott the restaurants garnered international attention, but if anyone thinks that there is any room for optimism on these issues, the Reuters interview earlier this week with Lviv mayor Andrij Sadovyi put things into realistic and unfortunate perspective. “Lviv is an absolutely tolerant city…[with] people of different nationalities who respect each other,” the mayor said. As far as the restaurants are concerned, he was quoted to the effect that there was no anti-Semitism whatsoever involved; they were merely [tourist] attractions, with no insult intended. Wilhelm Reich:Fascist mentality is the mentality of the subjugated “little man” who craves authority and rebels against it at the same time. It is not by accident that all fascist dictators stem from the milieu of the little reactionary man. The captains of industry and the feudal militarist make use of this social fact for their own purposes. A mechanistic authoritarian civilization only reaps, in the form of fascism, from the little, suppressed man what for hundreds of years it has sown in the masses of little, suppressed individuals in the form of mysticism, top-sergeant mentality and automatism. This little man has only too well learned the way of the big man and now gives it back, enlarged and distorted. The Fascist is the top-sergeant type in the vast army of our sick civilization. One cannot with impunity beat the tom-tom of high politics before the little man. The little top-sergeant has outdone the imperialistic general in everything: in martial music, in goose-stepping, in giving orders and obeying them, in the deadly fear of thinking, in diplomacy, strategy and tactics, in uniformed strutting and in medals. In all these things a Kaiser Wilhelm appears as a poor bungler compared with Hitler. When a “proletarian” general covers his chest with medals, on both sides, and from the shoulders to the belt, he demonstrates the little man trying to outdo the “real” great general.
