Zany,the often obscure cult of cute with its cutting edge cookie cutter style of homogenized aesthetic quality as mass commodity. An aggressive antidote to the beautiful or the sublime, but rather irritating and shallow often in the realm of the superficial where cuteness and perversity collide in an uneasy alliance of convenience within what could be termed the feeling based judgement, the manipulation of the sentimental fist in the velvet packages of market based consumer culture.cute1

In fact there is an entire lexicon of cuteness that marginalizes poetics and the sense of magic to the recycle bin of cultural marginalization and a none too subtle relation to the commodity. It is the supplanting of something meaningful and brimming with resonance to what Donald Kuspit referred to as “the look of thought.” A compounding of the shadowy with cute.
