by Jesse Marinoff Reyes:
The great Dan Solo was one of the last bulwarks against the tedious encroachment of so-called “progress” (computer technician-engineered, but not typographer designed “fonts” that have corrupted the use and perception of type for 20 years now) and torchbearer for the craft and art of actual typesetting—as all typesetters know, not merely the practice of outputting type (Grant Alden can bear witness to this). Solo was a scholar and historian as well. The Art of Typography lost a hero.
