arranging meetings

Mohammed Kasab is hung. Dispatched to the great beyond. The masterminds are still at large, and the war on terror, often dismissed by the far left as absurd or a fabrication is patently real: just ask the victim’s families. And in this culture of death, religious ideology mixed with creepy romanticism, there is no shortage of willing, a coalition of the willing, but of the most obscure sort…

(see link at end)…The attack, the most bloody and dramatic in the history of modern India, brought India and Pakistan to the brink of war. Prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh accused sections of Pakistan’s security establishment of assisting the terrorists and said a plot of such scale could not have been carried out without military planning. The attack was blamed on the Lashkar e Taiba terrorist group, which is believed to have had support from Pakistan’s ISI intelligence service since it was established to fight Indian forces in Kashmir.

…While India has sought to improve the relationship it remains deeply frustrated at the slow pace of efforts to bring to justice the masterminds behind the attacks. Telephone intercepts revealed Pakistan-based ‘controllers’ directed the attacks with orders over internet-based mobile telephones as they watched their ‘operation’ on Indian live television news shows. Kasab’s plea for mercy was rejected, hopefully on humanitarian grounds. The whole issue recalls the words  of Retired US General Schartzkopf  when a US journalist asked him about the Israelis “forgiving” the continual Islamist terrorists for their Acts of War against the state of Israel. The quote has been questioned and may only be partly correct:  The General said, ‘The Israelis have a Duty. That Duty is to Defend their Country. Forgiveness is in the Hands of God – after the Israelis dispatch their Enemies to Kingdom Come….”

— In a recent interview, General Norman Schwartzkopf was asked if he didn’t think there was room for forgiveness toward the people who have harbored and abetted the terrorists who perpetrated the 9/11 attacks on America.
His answer was classic Schwartzkopf. He said, “I believe that forgiving them is God’s function. Our job is simply to arrange the
meeting.”

ADDENDUM:

(see link at end)… About Israel he had this to say: “I admire Israel because she is a democracy; I admire Israel because I love the underdog, I always loved the underdog, and as a military man I cannot help but admire Israel’s military successes. But let me tell you I that I have never admired Israel more than I did during Operation Desert Storm be cause Israel had 40 reasons to enter the war—that is how many Scuds were fired at Israel. Sometimes it is said that Israel does not have the interest of the world at heart, and only has its own interest at heart, but this is not true. The Desert War proved the opposite: Israel was under tremendous pressure to enter the war, but for the good of everyone in the Coalition, Israel showed great forbearance for the common good, and because of that I am convinced today that we have the greatest opportunity today for peace, greater than at any time in my lifetime.”

—Those who refuse to see the connection between the murder of the Israeli athletes at Munich and the deaths in the London bombings in 2005, or the victims of 9/11, leave the way open for future nefarious attacks.
An ancient proverb ascribed variously to the Beduin and the Chinese postulates that a man who sets out on a quest for revenge should dig two graves, one for the person he seeks to kill and one for himself.
When Jews say the name of a fallen soldier, terror victim, or victim of anti-Semitism, instead of the traditional “May their memory be for a blessing,” we say “May God avenge their blood.” Sometimes, indeed, living and enjoying life is the best form of revenge, although there is something to be said for the quote (erroneously) attributed to Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf, on those harboring terrorists: “I believe that forgiving them is God’s function. Our job is simply to arrange the meeting.”—Read More:http://www.jpost.com/Opinion/Columnists/Article.aspx?id=280880

He singled out one of Israel’s famous military inventions for special praise: the pilotless small planes, the VUA, which the American Army is using for aerial surveillance. He told us that the plane was so successful that in some cases Iraqi troops surrendered to the pilotless plane!Read More:http://www.manfredlehmann.com/news/news_detail.cgi/44/0

… On the question of the Golan Heights, General Schwarzkopf made the most significant political statement for the benefit of Israel, and I quote his words: “If I were in charge of the Golan Heights, I would only argue from a position of strength.

I would not consider giving them up unless I had absolutely satisfactory assurances that the security of my country is protected. I would make that determination entirely on the basis of very, very strong assurances.” He implied, of course, that such assurances cannot be expected from either Syrians nor any other power! Coming from the highest Allied field officer, who has close knowledge of the Arabs and their mentality and military capabilities, this is surely a most important and telling utteran

which no doubt will carry much weight in Jerusalem as well as, hopefully, in Washington.

One questioner asked the General: “When Kuwait executed Palestinians and deported hundreds of thousands of them, no one said anything. So why is Israel condemned for deporting 12 known terrorists?” The General replied: “The Palestinians are a terrible problem for the Arabs in the entire region. They are a destabilizing element and that is the reason that all Arabs are very anxious to solve their problem. This is the reason for the general support among the Arabs for the peace process. But, of course, we cannot expect instantaneous results, and nobody does.” In other words, the Arabs would like to get rid of their Palestinians by unloading them on Israel. ( ibid.)
